Frequently asked questions
What stays on my computer, and what goes online?
In Local mode your computer does the speech recognition: the recording and the text never leave your disk, and Whisay works offline and without an account. In Online mode the recording goes through our server to a speech recognition provider, and the finished text comes back to the app. The pill shows which mode is on every time you dictate. The privacy policy lists our providers.
Does Whisay keep my recordings?
Your dictation history, recordings included, is saved only on your computer, and you can clear it in the app. We don't keep recordings sent in Online mode. On your account we only count usage, such as online dictation minutes, never the content.
Which systems does Whisay run on?
Windows and macOS. The text goes into any app you can type in: your email, a chat, a document, your browser or a terminal.
Which languages can I dictate in?
Whisay is tuned for Polish, and Polish is where we test it most thoroughly. In the settings you choose the dictation language: Polish, English, German, French, Spanish, Chinese, or automatic detection. The app's interface comes in the same six languages.
What do I get with the trial?
When you create an account, you get 14 days of Pro for free, with no card needed. The trial is available once per email address. After that you go back to the Free plan: unlimited local dictation and 30 minutes of online dictation a month.
How are Pro and Max different?
Both include Refine and Ultra, our live dictation: text appears above the pill as you speak and is ready 0.1-0.2 s after you let go of the shortcut. Pro gives you 3 hours of Ultra a month, then the fast online mode with no limit. Max has no limit on Ultra. Fair use rules apply to both.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On your account page, choose “Manage subscription” and cancel it in the Paddle portal. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for. Payments are handled by Paddle, our reseller.
Do I need an account to dictate?
Not for local dictation. You need an account for Online mode and for the trial. You can sign in with Google, Microsoft or a code sent to your email.
